The end of preschool.

It's 9:35 on a Saturday night as I start this post.  I'm way behind on the posts I've intended...and I doubt I'll get very far on this one tonight.  I recently saw a meme that captured exactly how I'm feeling these days...once Madeleine is asleep, do I go to bed too and attempt to catch up on sleep, or stay awake to finally get some other things that I've been meaning to do, done?  Constant battle.  These days, sleep usually wins. Hahaha who am I fooling--it always wins.

Gosh there's so much to catch up on...5th birthday, more on Madeleine, our recent trip to NH, more on Madeleine, family stuff, the dull ache that is knowing maternity leave has officially ended, and now, your preschool graduation!   So let's get right to what is most fresh.

Last night, you passed another milestone.  You 'graduated' from preschool.  Exactly a year ago, I was fraught with worry about you leaving the comfortable little bubble you'd known for so long with Ms. Helen and entering the scary vast world of preschool.  A year later, you've grown and showed us you're ready.  You're ready for kindergarten.  All day yesterday, I was steeling myself against totally losing it...but seriously, there's absolutely nothing sweeter than a group of 4-5 year olds, parading in a line, eyes wandering to find their loved ones in the audience, while singing and dancing to a planned musical number.  I can't imagine there were too many dry eyes.  There was recognition of hard-working teachers, choreographed songs and dances, walks across the stage, art exhibits, and more importantly, a clear understanding that you've spent the last year soaking it all in like the little sponge you are and showing us all that you've learned.  We couldn't be prouder.

It was a magical evening.

Rewind to the beginning of the week...kindergarten screening! And just before that, kinder information night. In a short amount of time, we've learned a lot about what to expect in the upcoming year for you. We can't wait for you to begin. You seem pretty excited about it too.

It's been a big week.  Now it's summer and we are looking forward to making the most of it before a whole new chapter begins. For now...sleep is calling, and I can't ignore it's siren ring.
