01 January 2016

See ya, 2015.

Full disclosure...I had this post written and ready, but to type it all out last night when sleep was calling was just too much.  So good intentions but alas a day late.

2015, drawing near to its close
(If I can just do this post, then I can doze!)

The start of the year were all things babyfied,
Prep for the room, washing tiny clothes, and packing the hospital bag had us mystified.

In March came dear sweet Madeleine Elise,
Your baby sis was so cute, so small, so petite.

Spring brought dank weather, so not much fun,
but May saw your 5th birthday and even some sun.

You had preschool grad, Santa's Village, and Storyland too,
Our 1st family of 4 vaycay to a waterpark was way cool.

Camping with Daddy, mini golf and some hikes,
Bar Harbor, Damariscotta, and riding your bike.

Range Pond, Camden/Rockland, and many playgrounds,
Strawberry picking, apple picking, and a goat farm we found.

Popham, Pemaquid, Sand and Ogunquit Beaches we went,
Trolley rides, ice cream cones, sleeping outside in a tent.

Visits from Auntie Tanya were both wonderful and yet somber,
As we dearly miss Uncle Seth and his smile and laughter.

There was Music on the Mall and the start of kindergarten,
You've made many new friends and love your teacher, Mrs. Patton.

The fall brought birthday parties and soccer, you've got quite a kick on the ball,
Saturday morning games became routine and most fun of all.

At school you did Mad Science every Tuesday at 3,
In October you were surprised with a very special treat.

We took you to see the Avengers in person and live,
Spiderman, Iron Man, Falcon and Cap had arrived.

Thor and Green Goblin, Loki and Hawkeye were there too,
But it was the giant green Hulk that made you cheer and whoop whoop!

Then came swimming, Saturdays at 8:30,
getting you kids out of the house on time was not always easy!

The holiday season was soon upon us and all looking festive
Train rides, Santa sightings and decorations, it's the season to give.

Christmas broke records with warm temps and sunshine,
(man, it's gets harder each year to do this in rhyme!)

Let's look back at 2015 around the nation and globe,
So much of the news was frightening, not much good to be told.

Plane crashes, train derails, prison escapes, sad news in a clump,
Terror events, refugee crises, a papal visit, and oh yeah, Trump.

Birdman won the Oscar, that was a fact,
There were other big movies like Avengers, Jurassic, and Mad Max.

Patriots won the Superbowl and Brady was great,
until he and Belichick were caught up in 'deflategate'.

Every year many stars lose their shine on this planet Earth,
Anne Meara, for one, we lost her and her mirth.

Bob Simon, Wes Craven, Omar Sharif to name a few,
Losses of Ben E. King, B.B. King, and Percy Sledge had us blue.

Colleen McCullough died, she brought us The Thorn Birds,
Leonard Nimoy, you know, Mr. Spock, and Jackie Collins of written word.

Sir Christopher Lee, king of many iconic characters did too pass,
as did James Best. Who? Rosco P. Coltrane, from the Dukes of Hazard, made us laugh.

Scott Weiland died from band STP,
and so many more who will live on in memory.

Here's hoping 2016 gives us peace and brighter days ahead,
Happy New Year to all, I'm now off to bed!
