24 February 2013

Everyday is like Sunday.

Despite feeling just a little bit weary of winter and longing for the dewy, fresh signs of spring, this weekend has proved to be the kind that makes long five day work weeks worth it.

We started our Saturday with tumbling class, a new venture we're about four weeks into.  There's no question Garrett loves it, and as each week passes, he gets more and more used to the routine of the class (i.e. listening, sitting in the circle, etc.).  Yesterday was by far the best day, complete with tons of bouncing around on the giant inflatable floor and an even bigger inflatable bouncy choo-choo train that had the kids scrambling up and then sliding down over and over again.  Suffice to say, there's always a great afternoon nap from a day of tumble.  Post tumbling, we headed to the Rumpus Room, not having been in a few months and wanting to squeeze in some more activity before the snooze.

The ball pit is always the first destination.

Then we got cookin'.  He was making a very interesting stew of fish, butter, salad dressing, tomatoes, and...baloney.

Then some outrageous tower building and finally, ending with some 'playing house', complete with feeding his baby.

And now onto Sunday...waking up to more snow and continually snowing. My first thought? Time to get baking. Like many others, I've discovered the addictive draw of Pinterest.  However, I'm really ever on there purely for the awesome recipes I find.  So today's experiment was called Strawberry Breakfast Buns...courtesy of Brandy's Baking  however I improvised and used a triple berry preserves.  Um, can I just say, YUM?  Just look at them! Sticky, gooey, and delectable.  Perfect with your third or fourth cup of coffee.

After breakfast, we donned our snowpants and headed outside.  Unlike the snowstorms we've been having all winter, this one isn't featuring biting cold temps and ferocious winds.  Out we went, sled in hand, and braved the several inches that have fallen. We even attempted a tiny snowman but the snow wasn't quite ready.

Next up, a walk in "Pooh Bear's woods," as Garrett said.  Our own 100 acre woods is quite beautiful covered in snowy frosting.

An exhaustive trudge back up the hills, stripped out of the frozen pants and socks, and into, as we like to call, 'cozy pants', and inside for lunch and cocoa.  Now, the house is still and quiet, save for the snores coming from both Gabby and Terry.  The snow continues to fall, blanketing the footprints we stomped earlier and waits for us to visit again.
